a tannery located in Central Java in Indonesia specialized In producing high quality Tilapia Fish Leather. Our raw material we receive from the biggest tilapia fish farm in Indonesia which was selected by WWF USA and WWF Indonesia due to their exemplary farming methods to develop international standards for the worldwide increasing tilapia fish farming.
About of Fish Leather
Fish leather has a natural cross-fiber structure and therefore it is stronger than cow leather and the same time is very flexible and soft. The Tilapia Fish whose skins we use for the leather production is not an endangered species and is not included in the Washington Convention, nor on the CITES list (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species). Tilapia Fish Leather is available in many colors and finishes, and makes a great leather substitute for reptile leather. Unfortunately, the majority of reptile leather is still produced by wildly trapped species, which are highly endangered due to the destruction of their habitat.
Size of Tilapia Leather
Tilapia skins are measured by width as shown in the drawing below.
Length of skins about 2,5 x width. Thickness 0,5 – 1,4 mm depending on size of skins.
